About Catherine

Catherine Tàmmaro is a Toronto-based artist whose work explores memory, Ancestral continuity, land, language, and Indigenous presence across the Great Lakes region, with a particular focus on documented connections between their extended family, the historic Anderdon Reserve and Wyandot(t-te)/Wendat communities in Canada and the United States.

Through archival research, oral histories, community relationships, membership, and genealogical affirmation her practise engages Wyandot(t-te) cultural histories and intergenerational knowledge.

Working across disciplines, Tammaro bridges contemporary art, historical recovery and cultural remembrance, often bringing attention to overlooked narratives of Indigenous endurance, resistance, kinship, Motherwork and identity.

Her work explores the concept of the “Ancestral Present,” reconnecting spiritual and creative energies with
the Homeland, while supporting fellow artists and students while continuing her own lifelong process of teaching, learning and creative exploration.
