(Where We Gather In Ceremony)
by Catherine Tàmmaro
tǫrǫtǫʔ *exists on the Ancestral sacred spaces of Indigenous Peoples through time and the shared space of Peoples from all over the world. Concerned with matters of Spirit, my purpose in creating these works was to make meaning through symbolic representations accessible to all communities, as
Infinite Aspects of Connection.
These works refer to seen/unseen spaces and our intersectionality as Peoples through symbolic glyphs. The reflective poetry acknowledges the lands and waters, the winds and the skyWorld, Motherwork, time, boundless love and our place in the Natural World. Together, the poetry and symbolic forms offer a series
of talismanic Energetic Signatures, marking our need to honour and to offer
to each other and all beings.
The Wyandot are an Indigenous Peoples with First Nations and Communities across Turtle Island. We are historically tied to the Tionontati, the Wendat, the Attawandaron, The Eriehronon and the Wenrohronon. Ontario is our Homeland.

Elemental
The basis of existence
of which much consists in this world
through which all love is given
as dross is turned to gold
the alchemy of liberation
Reverence
what desire will claim your heart
an invocation to the earth of your being
How do you spark the Aurora
with your own brilliant light
kiss the trees
with your green leaves
Teachings
The natural world resounds
a feather, an antler, a lake
a pool, a salmon, an egg
the long view brings
respect for those
who offer the ways of peace
Great Spirit
Beyond all knowing
underneath and above all presences
imbued in our Ancestors;
star seeds of the cosmos as rivers of life,
death, spirit and time
MoonStruck
Her silvery
presence cycles
us though
fruition to fallow
we wax and wane
through the ages of the Moon
Paradigm
a map, a key, a lifeway
as constellations
or instincts, we
are born with our

The Natural World
The flower speaks her truth to the morning dew
while echoing voices of creation mark the occasion
of her opening
Earth To Power
From the earth of our being
inward to the deepest knowing
we connect with a sacred
shared quest,
the first dance and the road home,
locked into a skyward gaze
