The Land of Falling Snows

The sleep of snakes and pebbles
dreams nighttime clouds silver and grey
New and Old bloodwater rushes

and gives its all at Ossossané,

finds its triumphant appearance

on ice covered bay; turgid and brilliant

crisp and clearer than
Northern Star’s presence

Frozen saplings converse

To each, a Longhouse –
The circle of bones’ and
blood memory.

Long line of trees at Lalonde
criscross fields along the bay.
medicine thinking and whispered prayer
Grandmothers find my face ~

the night now deep, as smoke
rising from the spirit fires
soft yet denser than trees and time

in the land of falling snows

“This is my offering.”

kwe: This is my offering…. for the living and the dead. Acknowledgement through ceremony. While we plant the seeds of futurity, they walk with us, moment to moment.
From the depths of the past into the vast and forever future.

We grow, are nurtured, mature ~ harvest honourably ~ and our futurity must involve acknowledging ‘those whose faces who have yet to come from beneath the ground’ (the Peacemaker) the intersectionalitiesof the incredible multiverse ~ and the unknown and unseen faces of our Ancestors. Those places where earth, sky, fire and water meet, the hidden vortices, the most sacred geometry, the places between the worlds and the earthy lucious goodness of the Natural World; the next planting, the next blossom, the next life, the next death; the next liberation – the next midnight and the “Coming Day”. Balance is golden.

They reflect back to us the gifts: the living and the dead offer us ~ such gifts! Once acknowledged, we erase those divisions between the living and the dying ~ between dying and rebirth – one process merges  into another, as their gifts become us; in the breath of a playing flute, or the corruption of the body…  the birth of a baby ~ and the drag of a paintbrush across a canvas – a kiss left on a cooling cheek as your beloved’s consciousness joins the vast multiverse.

Life, death, freedom ~ life, death, freedom.
