(The Spirit of the Woods)

The edge of wood, answers the moon
with her reflection

She emerges from the chrysalis

tamędumęʔ ⁿdiwahsǫteʔyeh yaⁿdišraʔ
(the night butterfly)

Within the answering trees

quiet spirits watch, enshrined in
hues of silver bark,

They are bringers of peace and healing.

yaⁿdatsekwaʔ ⁿdaeʔ ⁿdukiʔ yahayǫh
(the Birch is the Spirit of the Woods)

Watching on the path,

knowing our destiny is

to sleep with them –
The dark held within forever
